AlexRocksxo | Soap and Glory Mini Haul & Review

First off I'd like to throw a big apology at you for my lack of posting in the past couple of weeks, I've been really busy preparing my final pieces for my photography show next week, a blog post documenting it all will be up next week sometime so look forward to that. But to get me back in the swing of things I thought I'd bring you a quick Soap and Glory skincare haul. Of what I have tried in the past I've really enjoyed using Soap and Glory skincare. After Christmas I used their Peaches and Clean cleanser which I really enjoyed. After finishing it I kind of ignored their skincare and swiftly moved back into my Lush routine.

In April I completely stripped back my skincare routine to cleanser, toner and moisturiser. That routine still sticks and is working pretty well and my breakouts are minimal to none at the moment but I feel like my skin was missing a pizazz it had so I started to research into facial exfoliators. I had heard Fleur from FleurDeForce rave about the Soap and Glory Scrubatomic face scrub so thought I'd pick it up seeing as it is pretty cheap. There was an offer on S&G skincare (I think it was two products for £13) and then I had a £3 off voucher and then my friend who works at Boots picked them up for me and used her staff discount so in the end I nabbed two of these scrubs for £8 - ka-ching.
I have completely fallen in love with this scrub, it states it can be used daily but I find it a little too harsh for that so I have been using this two or three times a week and my skin is feeling smoother, my blackheads are looking smaller and my acne scars are starting to fade a little faster which I am over the moon about. It has fruit enzymes in it as well for that extra exfoliation so you can't lose. It also smells so good just like all S&G products. I feel like after using this scrub I find my skin glowing, maybe its a bit of a placebo but either way I enjoy it. If you are looking for a new scrub try this one out, it's affordable but still brilliant!

I was actually given this mask by my wonderful friend Anna (thank you Anna ♥) so I thought I'd include it in the Haul. The Fab Pore Mask from S&G is a pore refining mask and peel (guessed by the title) that is meant to help reduce the look of pores, prevent breakouts and helps detox the face. I will say that this mask did help reduce my pores for one or two days but I didn't see any miracle results when I used it. It is really thick but almost mousse like, really refreshing to apply and very cooling. I almost felt a slight burn when I applied it because it was so cold so I wasn't a huge fan of that but I could look over that if I saw massive improvements in my skin, which I didn't. My skin felt really chalky when I washed this off and I had to apply a thick lashing of moisturiser to combat that horrible dry feeling. I will say this didn't break me out and I would probably use this up but I won't be rushing out to restock it when I run out.

I hope you enjoyed this post and let me know if you have tried any of Soap and Glory skincare and what did you think of it? Be sure to also go over to bloglovin' and follow me to make sure you don't miss out on any of my future posts.

Free Aromatherapy Associates Gift - Marie Claire | AlexRocksxo

I am one of those people who buy magazines for samples, I am not going to turn down freebies for a magazine I might not read. I went into Tesco to grab Elle to pick up their sample size of Benefits Porefessional but then this caught my eye. I love trying out new skincare and this little set from Aromatherapy Associates looked too cute to leave.

In the set you get a 'Hydrating Renewing Rose Cleanser 10ml' 'Hydrating Rose Face Mask 15ml' & 'Hydrating Triple Rose Renewing Moisturiser 5ml' and I think the kit is worth £14. I love the scent of rose and I know it is great for helping dark spots disappear and Lord knows I have too many of those on my poor face. I am yet to try out any of these products but I should be doing a review on most of them, maybe not the cleanser but definitely the mask and moisturiser!

So if you are interested in trying out some Aromatherapy Associates skincare products for free go and pick up Marie Claire - It's £2.50 at the moment so it's even cheaper than usual!

Veggie Breakfast & Vegetarian Update | AlexRocksxo

Something you may not know about me is that I am a little bit of a chef on the side. I used to want to become a professional chef but decided it wasn't really for me. Plus the recent vegetarian change wouldn't have made for the best chef in the world. Anyway today I had my first day off in such a long time and thought I'd have a lay in, do some Spring cleaning and eat a gorgeous breakfast. I was pretty starving by 10AM so I looked for food's that would give me energy and keep me going until the late afternoon.

I looked in the fridge for something a little more exciting to switch up from corn flakes or porridge. After some very serious consideration I decided on avocado and egg on toast; washed down with some mango and lychee green tea. I chose avocados because of the amount of vitamins they contain, great for the start of the day. Also they contain 'good fat' which your body needs and your body is going to use that for energy instead of storing  as fat. Also because they are delicious! I thought it was a little plain so I added on a fried egg, maybe not so healthy but I haven't mastered poaching yet so fried will do. Eggs are so filling and a great source of protein, a really runny yolk (which I failed) makes everything a little gooey and just sooo good. I slapped it all on two slices of toast and devoured it. If you aren't a veggie I guarantee some grilled bacon on the top would be sure to satisfy you. If you're looking for a healthy breakfast to fill you up or just a little lunchtime treat, give this a go. You won't be disappointed!

I think I've been veggie for just under two weeks now, so I am not far in but I am really enjoying it. People keep telling me "Oh there is no way I could give up meat, I don't know how you do it" and to be honest it really isn't that hard. At the beginning I thought I might eat white meat for a while and then stop meat altogether, but then what is the point? Might as well go full throttle with it! I haven't felt my body lacking anything and if I'm being honest I feel myself having more energy and just feeling a little lighter. I think I've lost a couple of pounds too which is always nice! I am hitting the gym more and more now and really trying to drop some weight before I move to University so I look & feel good.
The only thing I would say I've hated about being veggie is my skin detoxing, my face has gone crazy with breakouts but I am hoping it's starting to calm down now. I had a wonderful comment on my last post about exfoliating to help your skin renewal and I have been using an exfoliating cleanser and it seems to be working. Lets hope for clear skin in a few days, it was clear just before I started so I hope it goes back.

Lush Fresh Facemask - Catastrophe Cosmetic | AlexRocksxo

One of my many Instagram selfies - Follow me here.
I have mixed emotions about face masks, everyone I have tried has either not worked or broken me out. I have tried many highstreet ones but when it comes to spending more money on one is it really worth it? I don't know if I am ready to branch out into the world of high-end skincare, mainly because I don't have the money but also I think if it doesn't work that's a lot of money you've spent on a facemask that's done nothing! What do you guys think?
I recently used up 5 Lush pots and took them into store for a free face mask and Catastrophe Cosmetic was recommended to me. Full of blueberries and chamomile help to sooth, brighten and cleanse the skin and this I agree with. After using this and the day after my skin feels a lot smoother and brighter. It smells just like blueberries and is actually blue which reminds me of those £1 face masks you bought when you were 10 at Superdrug to feel grown up, but it definitely has better results than those cheap crappy masks.
I think using this in the morning would be great if you are going to a special event in the evening. I felt my skin was brighter and it helped to hide some of the dark spots that I have. Bearing that in mind it hasn't helped with breakouts at all and I am having the breakout of the century at the moment. I have recently become a vegetarian and I think that my skin is purging and getting all the toxins out, my skin is awful and I hoped that this would help - but it didn't. I think this is probably a facemask I would reach for before a night out rather than if my skin was in trouble, it is soothing and calming but doesn't work miracles for spots. I don't think I'll be rushing to stock up on this but I would probably repurchase it in the future.

I hope you enjoyed this review and if you did please be sure to leave me a comment and follow me over on Bloglovin' so you can keep up to date with my posts! I have loads of posts coming up so keep your eyes peeled!
